With the student government campaigns underway, we have begun to see the first P.R. (Public Relations) moves from each party. With it being early in the elections, it is pleasing to know that each party is active in its mission to appeal to the students. However, this begs the question of whether such promises are realistic and beneficial.
According to the high school space on itslearning, the party group ACE has released a poster highlighting its main initiatives and what it stands for, both literally and metaphorically.

One imitative is to allow Juniors to leave campus, which is the same right granted towards Seniors. This would give juniors flexibility as they could come and go from home to school. This policy would be favored by many students however such enthusiasm cannot be shared with administrational faculty. The endless safety concerns and bureaucracy would dismiss such a proposal. If ACE could guarantee such a policy, they would be very attractive towards upcoming juniors, but there is no guarantee of it.
Some more achievable policies listed are having shorter lunch lines by implementing another ticket machine. This has huge potential, as the lunch lines are a serious bottleneck, with wait times of up to 10 minutes. This policy also appeals to a larger group of students and would allow for better productivity, as students would not be stuck waiting. Although one concern to note is how they would obtain the appropriate equipment, such hurdles can be overcome.
Overall ACE does pose ambitious especially concerning their first initiative, but ambition often drives for change. Change is what is needed at CDL in order to progress in school attractiveness.
