Student Government Election Results

On a calm, rainy Tuesday afternoon, a piece of CDL history was formed with the announcement of the new Student Government: Ace. 

After many months of candidacy, campaigning, and recent government debates, the decision has been finalised, and Fortis has been succeeded.

During that historical day, just before the Student Government election results were announced, I chatted with the president of Artemis about his initial thoughts on potential winners and his aspirations if elected. 

There was certainly an even chance between Artemis and Ace, with high percentages for each in comparison, he stated, notwithstanding voter intimidation conflicts in favour of a certain government without prior or given public knowledge. However, he believed that any government elected would be able to do a decent job within its position. 

I could already see a crowd forming outside the Panthers Café as I made my way outside Cervin. Lots of chatter could be heard as everyone anxiously waited for the announcement. Little by little, people quieted down to listen to the statement.

The principal began by congratulating all the teams for their strong campaigns and devotion to change, and announced the elected government after two elections and countless ballots.

Artemis came in second place, and Ace came in first place. There were cheers all around, screaming and laughing as the new Student Government president, Bisher Al Hasan, gave his electoral speech.
